JUNE 13, 2022 - SENT 8:00PM - AUDITION INFO
BLAST OF BRASS is just a month away, the faculty are preparing and the Featured Artists are excited to meet and work with each of you. Please note that this email has been sent to both the student and parent. Please check with your parents or student to make sure that everyone has received this email. As you know we have had some issues with emails going into Spam/Junk folders. Let’s make sure that everyone receives this email. Thanks!
We are excited to begin receiving your Audition Videos. This email is going to give you the basics of how we want you to record and upload your auditions.
Please note that the reason for the Audition is to place you in ensembles that perform at or near your level. We do not want to place you in an ensemble with students who are much more or less advanced than you are at this time. This will keep the frustration level down as you will be performing with others who perform at the same basic level. This is NOT a competition, but simply an ensemble placement. There is NO reason for anyone to need to record more than a few times, dramatic changes or improvements will not happen, so let’s not waste your time recording the same level of playing over and over again. NO STRESSING allowed, prepare, perform, and upload it. :)
Please follow the guidelines below as you begin creating your video(s):
1. DOWNLOAD YOUR AUDITION MUSIC
Please download the audition music, for your instrument, from the website at www.blastofbrass.com
2. VIDEO RECORDING REQUIREMENTS
a. Video yourself from a clear view, front or side, remembering that we need to see you performing on your instrument. Good lighting is always a good idea!
b. We recommend that you keep the camera several feet away from your instrument, approximately 6-10 feet.
c. We recommend that you dress appropriately for an Audition. Take it seriously and everyone who sees it will take you seriously. Business Casual is a good idea, no tux or full-length gowns required.
d. At the start of your video(s), please announce your NAME, INSTRUMENT, the GRADE that you will be entering in the FALL, and which ETUDE you will be performing.
EXAMPLE: Hi, my name is Keith Meek, my instrument is Tenor Trombone, I’ll be entering the 11th Grade, and I’ll be performing Etude #3.
e. You may record all of the Etudes in one video OR in multiple videos. If multiple, please remember to upload all videos.
3. HOW and WHEN to UPLOAD your AUDITION VIDEO(s)
a. Videos should be uploaded between JUNE 15 and JUNE 25, 2022.
b. You will receive a Dropbox Link to a folder titled with your Name and Instrument on June 15, 2022.
We hope that you will enjoy working on your audition music, be sure to show them to your private instructors, and then take your time to prepare well.

Good morning, BOB 2022 Students and Parents! We are so extremely grateful that you have chosen to attend BLAST OF BRASS 2022. From our Featured Artists, Daily Faculty, TAMUC, and my wife and I, thank you. We will endeavor to provide knowledge and inspiration! You are receiving this email because you have registered for the 25th annual BLAST OF BRASS Summer Chamber Music conference at Texas A&M University for JULY 11 - 15, 2022 in Commerce, TX.
This email is being sent for a number of reasons:
1. To make sure that you do have an official Confirmation that you have registered.
We have received word that about 10, of the almost 90 students, have not received their automated confirmation email. We do not know why, but this is to make sure that everyone has been confirmed that we have received your registration and that you are GOOD TO GO for BOB 2022.
2. We need to make sure you have the answers to a few common questions, such as:
A. WHERE DO WE FIND THE AUDITION MUSIC?
Answer: You may download your audition music directly from the website at www.blastofbrass.com and click on AUDITION MUSIC or follow this link: AUDITION MUSIC - Metro Musical Productions presents... (blastofbrass.com)
B. WHEN and HOW DO WE SUBMIT OUR AUDITION VIDEOS?
Answer: Your videos will be due between JUNE 15 - 25, 2022. You will receive an invitation to your own Dropbox folder, where you will be able to upload your audition video. Those invitations will come out on JUNE 15, 2022.
C. WHERE IS THE CAMP?
Answer: Texas A&M University - Commerce.
Many parents may automatically think that the camp is held at Texas A&M in College Station, BUT, Texas A&M has many satellite campuses. The university that we are located at is Texas A&M University in COMMERCE, TX. D. CAMP DATES, CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT details…and so forth?

E. IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHECK-IN EARLY or OUT LATE?
Answer: YES, though we greatly prefer that you arrive and leave on the dates and schedule listed. However; if you are coming from a long distance or have special conflicts, it is possible to Check-In on Sunday evening and or Check-Out on Saturday morning. There will be an extra fee of $40 for Early and or Late Check-IN/OUT. If you need this assistance, please email [email protected] and we will work out the details with you.
F. WHAT’s THE ATTIRE FOR CAMP and the CAMP RULE and so forth?

What’s next, please download your Audition Music and prepare to make your Video Audition. We will be sending more information about the DORM, as we are waiting for the official placement at this time. It looks like we will be located in the PHASE TWO dorm, but official confirmation is pending on which dorm. We should have that info next week.
Our main goal today is to simply make sure that everyone registered has received their confirmation and that you have a few basic questions answered. I hope this has been helpful.

It looks like we will be located in the PHASE TWO dorm, but official confirmation is pending on which dorm. We should have that info next week.

Please check for this email on TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 2022.
